History Deventer Canoe Club

Since its founding in 1933 the Deventer Canoe Club has been flourishing. The club accommodates 4 different disciplines of canoeing: flat-water racing; canoe polo; recreational canoeing and white water. Famous Deventer flat-water racers competed at Europeans, Worlds and Olympics. The first canoe polo team has been Champion of the Netherlands for over a decade now and has been able to compete with the best teams in Europe in the same period. The club houses at its current location since 1972, considered one of the most beautiful spots in Deventer, with a spectacular view at the ancient city skyline. At the moment the club has about 150 members, most of them are recreational canoeists.
